Latest Release: La Tierra Canta -
“The Earth Sings” is Morales’s third album, a sparkling, all-original collection of nine songs rich with melodic beauty and rhythmic complexity. Inspired by his South American heritage, the album features collaborations with exceptional musicians from five Latin American countries, producing an expansive and evocative musical experience.

Title Track: La Tierra Canta - A playful, melodic piece showcasing Vitor Goncalves’s accordion.

Other Highlights: Realismo Magico (nod to Gabriel Garcia Marquez), Armando (inspired by a dream about a mentoring cousin), 4 De Diciembre (a haunting, bittersweet piece evoking nostalgia), Keep in Touch (an uplifting, closing track).

Early Career & Influences -
Raised in Santiago and rural Chile, Morales was influenced by classic rock, nueva canción, and later, jazz through musicians like Keith Jarrett and Ralph Towner. His admiration for Towner led him to New York in 1981, where he studied classical guitar, and immersed himself in the city's vibrant music scene, befriending Al Diaz, close collaborator and friend of Jean Michel Basquiat.

Major Collaborations & Achievements -
Studied under Ralph Towner, touring with Oregon and learning from legends like Gary Peacock, John Abercrombie, and Nana Vasconcelos.

Released his debut album Tierra Del Fuego in 1989, followed by Doble Sol in 1994.

Gained acclaim for composing music for television, including As the World Turns, One Life to Live, and All My Children—winning an Emmy Award in 2013 for his work on the latter.

Current Work -
After years of composing for television, Morales returned to his guitar roots, moving to the New York area in 2015. He has since taught at Marist University and currently teaches at Bard College Conservatory of Music. In 2022, he recorded La Tierra Canta with Grammy-nominated musicians including Vitor Goncalves, Sebastian De Urquiza, Pablo Menares, Rodrigo Recabarren, Rogério Boccato, Daniel Zamalloa, and Juan Andrés Ospina.
